L Sheet-1 of 1 NRC MONTHLY OPERATING REPORT

SUMMARY

OF OPERATIONS WATERFORD 3 DECEMBER 1985 The unit started the month at 100% power. On December 4 a power reduction to approximately 70% power was initiated to perform control element assembly exercising required by technical specifications. On December 5 the unit returned to 100% power. On December 6 at 1819, at 100% power, a reactor trip on low departure from nucleate boiling ratio (DNBR) occurred when an incorrect value was entered for an addressable constant in the core protection calculators. The unit remained shutdown to replace reactor coolant pump seals.

On December 18 at 0638, the generator was back on line. On December 19 at 1443, at 100% power, a reactor trip occurred on low steam generator- level resulting from a feedwater pump trip due to an operator error while isolating the condenser water box. On December 20 at 0706 the generator was back on line. On December 22, 23 and 24, feedwater pump problems caused operation at reduced power levels for short durations. On December 24 the unit reached 100% power. The unit continued operation at approximately 100% power for the remainder of the month.
