Dear fir. Collins:

SUBJECT:
Waterford SES Unit No. 3 Docket No. 50-382 Special Safety Inspection on Fire Protection Notice of Deviation Items No. 382/8420-20 and No. 382/8420-18 As requested by the subject notice, a summary of actions taken to correct the following deviations are submitted for your review:
Item No. 382/8420-20:
"... procedure t!?1-7-010, Rev.
1, dated 5/1/83 failed to list a check for the required 6-year maintenance and 12 year hydrostatic test on dry chemical, stored pressure type of portable fire extinguishers with mild steel shells."
Response
A check for the required 6-year maintenance and 12-year hydrostatic test for dry chemical extinguishers has been listed in Revision 2 to procedure ?!?l-7-010 which was approved by our Plant Operations Review Committee on July 26, 1984.
This revision is expected to prevent the possibility of missing the required maintenance on dry chemical extinguishers.
Full compliance with requirements will be accomplished on August 10, 1984, when the new procedure is fully implemented by plant manager approval.
Item No. 382/8420-18:
... procedure FP-1-004, Rev. 2, fails to provide an adequate surveillance procedure to ensure that the minimum inventory of personnel protective equipment is verified."
