Louisiana Power & Light Company Waterford SES Unit 3 Docket No. 50-382 Amended Request for Extension of Construction Permit

Dear Mr. Eisenhut:
In the above Reference 1 and pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55(b), Louisiana Power
& Light requested that the Commission extend the construction completion date for Waterford SES Unit No. 3 set forth in the Construction Permit, CPPR-103, to September 30, 1984. Louisiana Power & Light hereby amends that request for a construction completion date extension until December 31, 1984.
Although it is felt that design, construction and testing of Waterford 3 has essentially been completed in accordance with the Final Safety Analysis Report and other licensing documents and that the unit is now ready to load fuel, additional time is necessary to address the concerns of the NRC Staff in the above Reference 2, which were unanticipated at the time of the extension request in Reference 1.
The request for a three month extension is considered to provide a prudent margin beyond the time required to resolve the issues from Reference 2.
