Dear Mr. Johnson:

1) Appraisal Item 382/83-08-97 A survey has been performed to determine the capability of the site public address system to provide a verbal message to all personnel within the owner c.ontrolled area. Design and procurement of equipment to correct deficiencies is in progress. The system modifications are scheduled to be completed and the system retested by 1/13/84.
2) Appraisal Item 382/83-08-62 The original in-plant paging system was designed to account for high noise areas within the plant. The system will be reviewed for possible modifications resulting from equipment changes within the plant.

Actual noise levels will be measured during 5% power operaticn.

Following evaluation of this data the PA sytten will be expanded or supplemented by strobe lights to ensure emergency messages can be transmitted to all areas within the plant.

Very truly yours, K. W. Cook Nuclear Support & Licensing }bnager KWC/PNB/ch cc: W.M. Stevenson, E.L. Blake, B. Churchill, J.T. Collins, G.L. Constable, /
