DOCKET NUMBER 50-483 CALLAWAY PLANT UNIT 1 UNION ELECTRIC CO.

FACILITY OPERATING LICENSE NPF-30 AMENDED RESPONSE TO GENERIC LETTER 2003-01, "CONTROL ROOM HABITABILITY" Ref: 1. ULNRC-04885, dated August 11, 2003.

2. ULNRC-05104, dated December 17,2004.

Reference 1 transmitted Union Electric Company (AmerenUE) preliminary response to NRC Generic Letter 2003-01, "Control Room Habitability". In this response it was identified that AmerenUE would need to develop an alternate method of integrated inleakage testing because of the Callaway Plant Control Room/Control Building design. AmerenUE contracted with Brookhaven National Laboratory and performed this alternate integrated inleakage testing on September 17 - 19, 2004 and the results of the testing were transmitted by Reference 2.

On May 26, 2006, Brookhaven National Laboratory submitted an amended report to AmerenUE. Brookhaven National Laboratory had determined that a portion of the Control Room (CR) out-leakage would enter the Control Building (CB). Thus, in addition to the CB Emergency Ventilation System (EVS) depleting the tracer concentration in the CB, a portion of the CR out-leakage was also contributing to depletion of the tracer in the CB.

The impact of considering this CR out-leakage is that the CB unfiltered in-leakage (UI) rates could only be reported as a range of values rather than a specific value and an uncertainty. The low end of the range is equal to the previously reported values with the upper end of the range approximately 50% higher. Listed below is the a subsidiaryof Ameren Corporation

" a'8 ULNRC-05298 June 6, 2006 Page 2 revised UI rate ranges for the CB that replaces the values reported in Attachment I, Table 1, of Reference 2. There is no change in the CR or the Equipment Room UI results.

Train Inleakage CB (CFM)

A 69 to 97 B 109 to 166 The revised values reported above have been evaluated for impact on the Callaway Plant Control Room dose model. These values will not result in post-accident dose to exceed the values reported in the Callaway Plant FSAR.

This letter does not contain new commitments.
