Gentlemen:
On October 12, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. 11. 5. Phillips of a deficiency identified by third party inspections which indicate the Unit 2 hot shutdown panel and main control board may not be seismically qualified.
The conditions addressed in this issue are documented in Nonconformance Reports (NCRs) CC-87-10859-X, CE-87-8714, and CE-87-8834. Our latest report on this issue, logged TXX-6941, was submitted November 11, 1987.
NCR CC-87-10859-X reported deviations involving undersized or missing structural steel members on the Unit 2 main control board. NCRs CE-87-8714 and CE-87-8834 reported deviations involving undersized members, missing members, and other structural detail items on the Unit 2 hot shutdown panel.
Calculation IMT-CA-EQ-0332-MS-605 was prelared to verify the structural integrity of the main control board and t1e hot shutdown panel prior to rework.
The results of this calculation indicate the structural integrity of the main control board and the hot shutdown panel would not be impaired had these deficiencies gone uncorrected.
