Gentlemen:
On August 31, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. H. S. Phillips of a deficiency involving discrepancies which have been observed in the fire detection control panels.
This deficiency was discovered by Startup during prerequisite testing and is addressed in Corrective Action Request (CAR)87-061.
This is an interim report of a poter ' ally reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).

We are continuing our evaluation and our next report on this issue will be submitted no later than February 24, 1988.
