DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50 446 CRACKED GEARS IN VALVE OPERATORS SDAR: CP-87-103 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On September 11, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. H. S. Phillips of a deficiency involving cracked gears in valve operators.
Specifically, cast bronze sector gears, used in Limitorque HBC-3 valve drives, were discovered to have visible defects and cracks in the web area where they bolt to the drive sleeves.
This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
We are continuing our evaluation and anticipated submitting our next report by l
December 11, 1987.
