On May 13, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. I. Barnes of failures experienced in station battery charger circuit cards manufactured by Power Conversion' Products, Inc. 'This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). Our latest interim
-report was logged TXX-6646, dated August 14, 1987.
Additional time is required to assess the safety significance of this condition. 'Our evaluations will include:
1 1.
Discussions with the manufacturer regarding generic implications.
2.
Review of design requirements, including loading calculations.
3.
Survey of the history of failures of the chargers from other plants.

Upon completion of these activities we will be able to determine the deportability of this deficiency under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
