CP-87-94 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On September 3,1987, we verbally notified your Mr. H. S. Phillips of a deficiency involving the Station Uninterruptible Power Supply (SUPS) inverter IV IPC3.
Specifically, this SUPS inverter is designed to maintain the proper output current when loaded between 2/3 and full designed load.
However, we have determined that this inverter will be loaded to only approximately 56% of full capacity, thus not ensuring that proper output will be maintained.
This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
Our evaluation of this issue is continuing. We have requested the manufacturer verify, by calculation, that the inverter will function correctly at the reduced load. We expect to submit our next report on this issue by January 8,1988.
