COMANCHE PEAK STEAM ELECTRIC STATION (CPSES)
DOCKET N05. 50-445 AND 50-446 INSTRUMENT PANEL CABLE SEPARATION SDAR: CP-87-92 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On September 3, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. H. S. Phillips of a deficiency involving separation of Class 1E and non-Class 1E cables in some 118 VAC instrument bus distribution panels which may not be adequate.
This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
Specifically, in four instrument distribution aanels non-Class 1E cables cross Class 1E cables to reach assigned circuit brea<ers.
This arrangement does not achieve the maximum practical separation of the cables required per the FSAR Section 8.3.1.2.1.7C.
We are continuing our evaluation of these conditions for the possible adverse affects or degradation of the Class 1E cables. Our next report on this issue will be submitted no later than December 11, 1987.
Very truly yours, 1%
