CP-87-01 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On January 14, 1987 we verbally notified your Mr. 1. Barnes of a deficiency involving an error in the finite element computer model for the Safeguards j
Building.
The error involves a fixed support point at the roof elevation where no such support exists.
This condition produces an incorrect load distribution in the computer model, which will require a reevaluation of the l
structural members in the building.
Our latest interim report, ' logged l
1XX-6593, was submitted on July 28, 1987.
1 We are continuing our evaluation of the impact of this issue upon the safety l
of plant operations. Our next report on this issue will be submitted no later than November 3,1987.
