Gentlemen:
On July 15, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. I. Barnes of a deficiency involving cracked insulation coatings identified on the solenoid valves on the feedwater isolation valves. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
We are continuing our evaluation of the impact of this issue upon the safety of plant operations.
We expect to submit our next report by October 16, 1987.
