NSSS CONTROL CABINETS OPTICAL ISOLATION CHIPS SDAR: CP-87-39 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On July 15, 1987, we verbally notified the Nuclear Regulatory Commission of a deficiency involving the optical isolation chips used in NSSS control cabinets furnished to CPSES by Westinghouse which have experienced an apparently high failure rate. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
Our evaluation of this issue for safety significance is continuing.
