Gentlemen:
On May 27, 1986, we verbally notified your Mr. T. F. Westerman of a deficiency involving the failure of project procedures to adequately address the installation _and_ inspection criteria forJ:able-runsi used as device pigtail extensions. This is an interim report of a potentially reporrabTe-item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e). Our latest interim report, logged TXX-6166, was submitted on December 16, 1986.
The field verification effort to obtain cable and splice data is continuing.
As-built data obtained from this effort is under evaluation in preparation of our assessment of the impact of this issue on the safety of plant operations.
Our next report on this issue will be submitted no later than May 21, 1987.
