DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 STATIC COMPUTER MODEL FOR THE SAFEGUARDS BUILDING SDAR: CP-87-01 (INTERIM REPORT)
Gentlemen:
On January 14, 1987, we verbally notified your Mr. Ian Barnes of a deficiency l
involving an error in the finite element computer model for the Safeguards Building. The error involves a fixed support point at the roof elevation where no such support exists. This condition produces an incorrect load distribution in the computer model, which will require a reevaluation of the structural members in the building.
We are continuing our evaluation as a part of the Design Basis Consolidation Program and anticipate submitting our next report by July 29, 1987.
