DOCKET NOS. 50-445 AND 50-446 CABLE TRAY SPLICES / CONNECTIONS SDAR: CP-86-52 (INTERIM REPORT)
Dear Mr. Johnson:
On July 25, 1986, we verbally notified your Mr. I. Barnes of a deficiency involving the splices / connections used for cable trays. This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
Splices / connections used for certain cable tray types and sizes have been observed which do not conform to the acceptable splice patterns defined by the cable tray manufacturer or approved field design change documents.
Additionally, the applicable QC inspection documents for Tray Types A and B did not require verification of splice / connector configurations and dimensions.
The evaluation and the identification of corrective actions (if required) for these conditions are currently being undertaken by Ebasco. We are continuing our evaluation and anticipate submitting our next report by October 21, 1986.
