Dear Mr. Johnson:
On July 11, 1986, we verbally notified your Mr. I. Barnes of a deficiency involving the effects of polar-organic solvents on the sealants of Conax adaptor modules and electrical penetrations.
This is an interim report of a potentially reportable item under the provisions of 10CFR50.55(e).
a The supplier's field representative has inspected the adaptor modules and electrical penetrations to evaluate the effects of polar-organic solvents on these assemblies.
The supplier has provided notification that the damage was the result of direct contact by solvents on the seals.
We are currently reviewing site procedures for cleaning and painting to formulate recommendations for the protection of the sealant. We anticipate submitting our next report by September 19, 1986.
