PERFORMANCE TEST RESULTS The South Texas Project simulator upgrade project is complete. Site acceptance testing began l ' Lin March 1995 and was completed satisfactorily in July 1995. One hundred percent malfunction testing was completed along with all other simulator performance tests required by ANSI-3.5,-

1 1985, " Nuclear Power Plant Simulators for Use in Operator Training," as endorsed by Regulatory

~

. Guide 1.149. Individuals from South Texas Project's plant operations, training and engineering organizations wem involved in the testmg program.

i The simulator upgrade project testing results meet the performance requimments.of ANSI-3.5, i

1985. The areas of panial and non-compliance which were identified in Section 2 of the March 1,1991 South Texas Project Simulator Certification Report have been corrected. Documentation of the simulator performance test results are maintained and available for review at the facility in accordance with 10CFR55.45(b) (5) (iii).

l I

The March 1,1995 South Texas Project Simulator Certification Report listed 1,554 malfunctions for testing. Of these,186 malfunctions did not test satisfactory during the simulator upgrade project and are being tracked as discrepancies until corrected. Four additional malfunctions were added, tested, and accepted for training. The added malfunctions were for a Steam Generator Tube Rupture in the upper portion of the tube bundle.

I As of August 2,1995 there are 537 discre; ancies against the simulator. These discrepancies will be corrected by the ' simulator vendor as prioritized by the South Texas Project. These identified L

discrepancies will be prioritized in accordance with station simulator configuration control

}.

procedures. Simulator discrepancy documentation is maintained by the South Texas Project and is available for review.

The disempancies listed in Section E of the March 1,1995 South Texas. Project Repon l

Simulator Certification Report have been corrected with the exception of number 1695 (core exit

. thermocouple response). Core exit thermocouple response is in the proper direction, but tb magnitude of response requires resolution. This discrepancy.will be scheduled for correction in

accordance with station simulator configuration procedures.
