Redaction of information deemed vulnerable by Department of Homeland Security regulations is acceptable.

Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Items of Interest Week Ending January 19, 2024 Reactor Oversight Process Public Meeting On January 17, 2024, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff hosted a public meeting related to the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) to discuss the response to a public inquiry on applicability of 10 CFR Part 26 requirements to contractor travel time (ML24010A037), NRC staffs ongoing review of draft NEI 99-02 Revision 8, and the response to FAQ 23-03 for a Turkey Point Unplanned Scrams Performance Indicator (ML24012A042).
Attendees included representatives from the Nuclear Energy Institute, NextEra Energy, and members of the public. The next bi-monthly public meeting on ROP-related matters is tentatively scheduled for March 26, 2024.
10 CFR Part 52 Construction Lessons-Learned Report On January 17, 2024, the staff issued the 10 CFR Part 52 Construction Lessons-Learned Report (ML23325A202). The report is publicly available and includes best practices, suggestions, and recommendations based on lessons learned from construction at Vogtle Units 3&4 and Virgil C. Summer Units 2&3. The staff will present the report at a public meeting scheduled for February 14th.
Holtec Decommissioning International, LLC License Transfer to Palisades Energy, LLC On December 6, 2023, Holtec Decommissioning International, LLC (HDI), submitted an application for an order approving the transfer of the license and conforming amendment regarding Palisades Nuclear Plant and its associated independent spent fuel storage facility.
Specifically, HDI is requesting to transfer operational authority under Renewed Facility Operating License No. DPR-20 from HDI to Palisades Energy, LLC (OPCO), a new subsidiary of Holtec International, as part of the regulatory approvals necessary to reauthorize power operations at Palisades. On January 16, 2024, the NRC staff issued its letter accepting the application for review. The NRC staff recognized that this request for a license transfer is part of several licensing actions Holtec intends to request in order to enable the restart of Palisades Nuclear Plant.
