NRC Attends INPO New Radiation Protection Manager Seminar
On August 25, 2022, the NRR and Region II staff participated in the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) New Radiation Protection Manager Seminar at the INPO Office in Atlanta, GA. The staff provided an overview of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) radiation protection regulatory framework and insights into the inspection and assessment of radiation safety performance at operating nuclear power plants. The staff discussed recent inspection issues involving the monitoring of radiation originating from alpha-emitting sources as well as updates to the regulatory guidance regarding the monitoring and evaluation of occupational radiation exposure. Attendees and representatives from INPO provided positive feedback and expressed interest in the NRC participating in a future seminar that is tentatively scheduled for December 2022.
NRC Hosts Higher Burnup Workshop
On August 24, 2022, the NRC sponsored the Higher Burnup (HBU) Workshop III, a key activity supporting communications on Accident Tolerant Fuel (ATF) concepts. The workshop provided an overview of reactor fuel HBU and increased enrichment (IE) topics through presentations by the staff and industry. The workshop provided a forum for public questions on ATF activities, specifically on HBU and IE issues. The event also included an NRC and industry exchange on expectations for future submittals, including those involving HBU and IE for industrys planned batch loading of ATF by the late-2020s. The staff committed to continued interactions with the industry and the public regarding HBU and IE. The workshop had over 120 attendees.
NRC Reverse Drop-In Meeting on Limerick Digital Instrumentation and Controls
On August 22, 2022, NRR division management held a reverse drop-in meeting with the Site Vice President of Limerick Generating Station (Limerick) and other Constellation senior executives to discuss the tentative review schedule for the planned Limerick digital instrumentation and controls modification license amendment request. The primary purpose of the meeting was to make Constellation management aware of the impact of its recent decision to delay the submittal of the request from August to September and possible impact of any future delays on timely completion of the planned request. In addition to suggesting actions Constellation can take to help ensure successful and timely completion of the review, NRR described its actions taken to date to ensure the successful and timely completion of the planned Limerick license amendment request. Constellation stated that the meeting was beneficial and suggested that periodic executive meetings between NRR and Constellation should be held to support the successful and timely review of the request.

On August 19, 2022, contract number NNG15SD06B/31310022F0076 was awarded to 4 Star Technologies, Inc. in Virginia Beach, VA. The purpose of this contract is to renew existing licenses and procure additional Tableau software for a data analysis and visualization tool. The period of performance is from August 10, 2022, through August 3, 2023, with no option periods.

IdeaScale Innovation Management Software
On August 23, 2022, contract number GS35F0598S/31310022F0078 was awarded to Alamo City Engineering Services, Inc. in San Antonio, TX. The purpose of this contract is to acquire IdeaScale - Innovation Management Software on a brand name only basis from an authorized reseller. The period of performance is from September 1, 2022, through August 31, 2023, with four option periods. The total potential value of the contract can be up to $1,165,411.27.
