Items of Interest Week Ending MARCH 27, 2020 Public Meeting to Discuss Revisions to the Subsequent License Renewal Generic Aging Lessons Learned Report and Standard Review Plan On March 25, 2020, the staff held a public teleconference to discuss topics related to revisions to the subsequent license renewal Generic Aging Lessons Learned Report (NUREG-2191) and Standard Review Plan (NUREG-2192) guidance documents. The topics included revisions to aging management programs for pressurized water reactors reactor pressure vessel (RPV) internals, internal coatings for piping and components, ASME Section XI, Subsection IWE, protective coatings for structures, and evaluations related to aging management of RPV steel supports and spent fuel pool liners.

Items of Interest Week Ending MARCH 27, 2020 Backfitting, Forward Fitting, and Issue Finality Guidance: Draft NUREG; Request for Comment; 10 CFR Chapter I (NRC-2018-0142)
On March 23, 2020, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued a document in the Federal Register (85 FR 16278) requesting public comment on draft NUREG-1409, Backfitting Guidelines, Revision 1. This draft NUREG provides guidance on the implementation of the backfitting and issue finality provisions of the NRCs regulations and the NRCs forward fitting policy in accordance with Management Directive and Handbook 8.4, Management of Backfitting, Forward Fitting, Issue Finality, and Information Requests. Comments are requested by May 22, 2020.
