Items of Interest Week Ending FEBRUARY 7, 2020 Staff Accepted License Amendment Request for Vogtle 3 & 4 on the Removal of a Pre-Operational Test of the Passive Residual Heat Removal Heat Exchanger On February 5, 2020, the Vogtle Project Office accepted a complex License Amendment Request (LAR) for Vogtle Electric Generating Plant, Units 3 and 4 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20031E665). The LAR requests removal of a pre-operational test of the passive residual heat removal heat exchanger. The LAR proposes to substitute a natural circulation test with a test under forced flow conditions. The staff discussed an earlier submittal of this LAR during public meetings and is performing an audit to expedite issuance by March 20, 2020.

Chapter I of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations; [NRC-2017-0214]

On February 4, 2020, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) published a document in the Federal Register (85 FR 6103) conducting a retrospective review of administrative requirements to identify outdated or duplicative administrative requirements that may be eliminated without an adverse effect on public health or safety, common defense and security, protection of the environment, or regulatory efficiency and effectiveness. The NRC is requesting input from its licensees and members of the public on any administrative requirements that may be outdated or duplicative in nature. Comments are requested by April 6, 2020.
