Items of Interest Week Ending May 25, 2018 Anchor Darling Disk Valve Public Meeting On May 16, 2018, the staff held a public meeting with the Nuclear Energy Institute to discuss the draft Temporary Instruction (TI) for inspection licensee corrective actions regarding Anchor Darling Double Disk Gate Valves. Industry representatives expressed concerns that the draft TI goes above and beyond the regulatory requirements or plants licensing basis and recommended the TI align more closely to the industry resolution plan. The staff explained that the TI would serve two purposes: (1) to evaluate industry progress on addressing the Part 21 issue; and (2) to gather data to allow the staff to assess whether further regulatory action is needed. The staff plans to revise the draft TI and hold a webinar before it is finalized.
