• Order EA-13-228 dated December 16, 2015 NRC issued Security Order EA-13-228 (Reference 1) which required South Carolina Electric &

Gas Company (SCE&G), the licensee for Virgil C. Summer Nuclear Station Unit 1 (VCSNS), to comply with Additional Security Measures (ASMs). SCE&G responded (Reference 2) with a schedule to achieve compliance with the ASMs. Subsequently, the implementation date was revised (References 3 and 4) based on current fuel load plans.

Page 2 of 2 In a letter dated December 16, 2015 (Reference 5), VCSNS provided notification to the NRC that VCSNS was in full compliance with the requirements of Security Order EA-13-228 as of December 10, 2015.

This letter provides a detailed response for each requirement described in NRC Order EA 228. VCSNS will store fuel in the Independent Spent Fuel Storage Installation on or after March 21, 2016.
