Dave Gasperson, 404-997-4417 NRC Names Resident Inspectors at Vogtle Construction Site Nuclear Regulatory Commission officials in Atlanta have assigned Jason Parent and Brian Griman as the new resident inspectors for Vogtle Units 3 and 4, located near Waynesboro, Georgia, approximately 26 miles southeast of Augusta, Georgia. The two new units are licensed to Southern Nuclear Operating Co., which operates the two existing Vogtle nuclear units at the same site.

Parent began his career with the NRC in the Resident Inspector Development Program and qualified as a reactor operations inspector in the agencys Region II office in Atlanta. Before moving to Vogtle, he served as a resident inspector at the Oconee Nuclear Station and as acting resident inspector at the Catawba Nuclear Station and the Robinson Nuclear Plant, both in South Carolina.

Before joining the NRC, Parent worked for the U.S. Navys Norfolk Naval Shipyard and holds a bachelors degree in Aeronautical and Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University in Potsdam, New York.

Griman joined the NRC in 2015 as an intern with the Division of Construction Oversight and has held several positions, including acting resident inspector at Vogtle 3 and 4, acting resident inspector at the Mixed Oxide Fuel Fabrication Facility, and acting resident inspector at McGuire Nuclear Station in North Carolina. He is both a construction inspector and an operating reactor inspector.

Before joining the NRC, Griman served in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear machinist's mate and holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh.

The Vogtle construction site has its own NRC resident inspectors, and the number assigned depends on the work being completed. Parent and Griman join senior resident inspectors Brian Kemker and Jason Eargle.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors. They are the agency's eyes and ears at the facility, carrying out inspections, overseeing important work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
