96-32 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (Tuesday, February 13, 1996)
NRC MEDIA WORKSHOP SCHEDULED The Nuclear Regulatory Commission is planning a two-day workshop for news reporters April 24-25 at its headquarters in Rockville, Maryland.
NRC senior managers and staff will brief interested reporters and answer questions on reactor operations, radiation protection, spent fuel storage, radioactive waste, decommissioning, reactor aging problems and other current issues.
Reporters will also tour the NRC Operations Center which monitors operations at over 100 nuclear power plants around the country.
This workshop will be especially useful for reporters who cover news events and nuclear facilities near their communities.
There is no charge for attending the workshop, but participants must provide their own food, transportation and lodging expenses.
A block of reasonably priced rooms is being held at a local hotel.
They will receive -- at no charge --
instructional materials which may be taken home for quick reference.
The size of the class is limited, so if you would like to attend, please contact the NRC Office of Public Affairs by March 15 at (301) 415-8200, or write to the Office of Public Affairs, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Washington, D.C., 20555.
