NRC LICENSING BOARD SCHEDULES PREHEARING CONFERENCE MAY 15 IN SAFETY LIGHT PROCEEDING The presiding Atomic Safety and Licensing Board has scheduled a prehearing conference on May 15 in Bethesda, MD, in a Nuclear Regulatory Commission proceeding involving the denial by the NRC staff of renewal applications for licenses held by Safety Light Corporation, and others, for its manufacturing facility in Bloomsburg, PA., and an order establishing criteria and schedule for decommissioning the site.
The conference will begin at 9:30 a.m. in the NRC Public Hearing Room, Fifth Floor, 4350 East-West Highway.
Safety Light requested the hearings after the NRC staff in February 1992 denied applications for renewed licenses for the Bloomsburg facility, which manufactures self-illuminating signs and other devices, and issued an order requiring the licensees to decontaminate and decommission the site such that it can be released for unrestricted use.
The purpose of the prehearing conference is to establish future schedules for a hearing.
Members of the Licensing Board are the following Administrative Judges from the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board Panel:
Thomas S. Moore, Chairman; Frederick J. Shon, and James H. Carpenter.
