No: 20-005 January 27, 2020 CONTACT: David Castelveter, 301-415-8200 NRC Names New Chief Financial Officer The Nuclear Regulatory Commission today announced the selection of Cherish K. Johnson as the agencys new Chief Financial Officer. She will join the NRC on Feb. 18. Johnson is assuming the position previously held by Maureen Wylie, who retired from the NRC after 35 years of federal service.

Prior to this appointment, Johnson had served as Chief Financial Officer/Chief Administrative Officer at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration since 2014. In that position, she led NOAAs budgeting, accounting, property and Congressional divisions, as well as the Facilities and Personnel Administrative divisions.

Before joining NOAA, Johnson served at NASA, where she began her career within the Space Operations Mission Directorate, supporting the Space Communications, Space Shuttle and Space Station resource and acquisition offices. She later worked as Mission Support Division Director, with financial, acquisition and administrative responsibilities.

Johnson holds a bachelors degree in Accounting and a masters degree in Accounting and Management Information Systems, both from the University of Houston. She is a recipient of the NOAA Administrators Award and NASA Space Flight Awareness Award.
