ACCIDENT INVOLVING A VEHICLE CARRYING LOW-LEVEL RADI0ACTIVEWASTE(UPDATE)
On January 4,.1988,(10:00 AM) the State of Washington reported to the Regional Office that the contamination caused by the vehicle accident had been cleaned up and the Stevens Highway had been reopened to traffic effective 3:30 PM, December 31, 1987.
The contaminated debris and irradiated hardware are being repackaged by U. S. Ecology, Inc.,for disposal. The contaminated soil has been removed and trucked to the tU. S. Ecology, Inc burial site awaiting special burial approval from the State of-Washington.
All contamination radiation levels, at the accident site, have been reduced to background levels.
This update of the Preliminary Notification is for information only. This matter is considered closed.
