THEFT OF MOISTURE DENSITY GAUGE The State of Colorado notified the Region IV office of an alert issued following the theft of a moisture density gauge.- The regional office was notified via facsimile on January 13,1998.

r. A Troxter moisture density gauge, owned by A.G. Wassenaar, Inc., of Denver, Colorado, was stolen with a company vehicle. The vehicle was parked, with the engine runn'ng, in -

front of an employee's residence. The Troxler gauge is a model 3430, serial number 26221, and containe 8 millicuries of ceslum-137 and 40 millicuries of americium-241/ beryllium within the gauge. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment issued a press -

release providing a description of the gauge and appropriate contacts within the state.

Anyone who finds the gauge is requested to notify the Colorado Department of Health and Environment on their 24-hour emergency line at (303) 756-4455.

- This is the fourth theft of a portable gauge in the past 8 months in the state of Colorado.

The state of Colorado has been informed. NMSS has been notified.

A press release has been issued by the state.
