At 12:47 pm, October i /,1997, the Walnut Creek Field Office was informed by the Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency (ARRA) thet Speedie and Associates, an Arizona licensee, had informed them of the thof t cf two troxter moisture density gauges from two different locations ,

in Phoenix, i Both cauges hed been chained and locked in the open bed of two pickup ,

trucks. l l The Phoenix Polica Department is investigating this event.  ;

No press release has been lasued hs ARRA as of this notification.

Region IV received notification of this occurrence by facsimile on l October 17,1997.
