LICENSEE REPORT OF SKIN OVEREXPOSURE FROM HOT PARTICLE i
On April 4, 1993 the licensee made a 24 hour2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br /> report to NRC pursuant to 10 CFR 20.403(b)(1) concerning its determination that an employee recieved an estimated 33.9 rem skin dose (8 micro-curie hours) on April 2,1993 while working in containment during a refueling outage. The exposure was the result of a hot particle which was detected on the individual's thigh while he performed a personal contamination survey prior to leaving the area. The hot particle has been confirmed to be fission product. The dose estimate was made using the VARSKIN code. The licensee has formed a 3 member team to investigate the exposure.
The state of Kansas will be informed.
Region IV received notification of this occurrence from the NRC duty officer on April 4, 1993 at 6:30 pm CST. Region IV has informed NRR. The Resident Inspector will conduct an initial review of licensee actions.
