' SEALED RADIATION SOURCE FOUND IN RENTAL CAR On December 1,1986, the Indiana Board of Health notified Region III (Chicago) that it was. storing a sealed iodine-125 radiation source, which had been found in a rental car on N vember 30, 1986, at the Indianapolis airport. The source was discovered by a car rental company employee; the Indiana University Medical Center radiation safety officer was dispatched to the rental facility to provide radiological assistance. His radiation survey showed radiation, levels at the surface of the source container to be approximately background, and itak; testing showed no. evidence of leakage. The radiation safety officer took possession of tha source and later turned it over to the State Board of Health.
A label.on the source container indicated it was a Norland Instrumer.ts source with a current activity of approximately 33 millicuries. The licensee believes that the source had been used by a Norland employee during installation of a bone mineral' analyzer in the Indianapolis area.
