- SHUTD0'n'N INITIATED DUE TO AN ESF SYSTEM BEING MADE INOPERABLE TO MAKE SYSTEM REPAIRS During a routine surveillance test of the Unit 2 high pressure coolant injection (HPCI) system on June 22, 1980, the licensee discovered a pin-hole oil leak on the emergency oil pump header. Although this leak would not render the HPCI system inoperable, the licensee decided on June 23, 1980, to declare the HPCI system inoperable to initiate repairs.
An orderly unit shutdown has begun at ll:00 p.m.
(CST), June 23, 1980, per TS requirements and repairs i.ferb completed and the

shutdown terminated at 1:25 p.m.
This PN is issued for information only, and the Resident Inspectors are reviewing the licensee's actions in accordance with routine inspection program requirements.
Neither the licensee nor Region III plan to make a press release at this time.
The State of Illinois is being notifi ed.
