Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant Expiration of Security Supervisor Union Contract DESCRIPTION: The current Union contract between the security provider at Monticello Regulated Secure Solutions (G4S) and the Monticello security supervisors is about to expire. Negotiations are currently ongoing.

The NRC does not take part in the negotiations and is independent of any federal mediator involved in the negotiations between the company and represented employees. The NRCs sole focus is on ensuring the safety and security of the nations commercial nuclear facilities.

To that end, the NRC has been closely following the events leading up to the current situation.

The licensee has taken action to ensure the continued security of the facility, by using an augmented security supervisor staff from other nuclear facilities. All required security supervisor positions will be filled. NRC security inspectors have been on-site assessing the licensees preparations and the training of the augmented security force and will continue to monitor the utilitys actions to ensure that augmented personnel are qualified and capable of protecting the plant against any security contingency.

The NRC will continue to assess the licensees handling of the situation until it is resolved.
