The Mississippi Division of Radiological Health (MDRH) reported to NRC that the licensee had lost a portable moisture / density gauge. The device i is beleived to have fallen from a moving pickup truck in the vicinity of '

Northside Drive, Jackson, MS on the afternoon of December 22, 1998. The 1

device is a Troxler, model 3411-B, serial number 9955, containing 8 millicuries of cesium-137 and 40 millicuries of americium-241.

The licensee conducted a search for the missing device, and State

-officials also conducted a search along the route taken by the truck. The  ;

licensee reportedly is offering a $250.00 reward for the return of the  :

- device. The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) has issued a i press release concerning the event and a description of the device.
