LOSS OF RADIOACTIVE MATERIAL On October 29, 1998, the licensee reported to the NRC, that it was unable to locate a plastic ampule containing 0.1 microcuries of plutonium 239 in a liquid solution. The container was properly labeled as containing j
plutonium 239 and was heat-sealed closed. The licensee identified the missing source during an inventory. The source was last accounted for in March'1998. The material is normally stored in a laboratory with a card key access control system and is intended for use as a calibration
- standard.
The State of Alabama has been notified.
