Approximately 9:00 a.m. on March 29, 1998, the licensee notified Rcgien II that a Troxler Model 3241C Asphalt Content Gauge, containing l 100 millicuries of Americium-241, had been involved in a building fire at
! tha. licensee's plant in Gassaway, WV.
A representative from the State of
' W0st Virginia's Radiological Health Program, responded'to.the site of the firo cnd verified by radiation surveys th a t the source shielding was intact and.that there had been no damage to the source.
The licensee pleccd the gauge in a steel drum and moved the gauge to a secure storage
-locction at their office. -The licensee will contact Troxler for ceniutance in packaging and return of the gauge for repairs.
The State of West Virginia was informed.
