MISSING BRACHYTHERAPY SOURCES (UPDATE)
This is an update to the information regarding the loss of 19 cesium-137 sources containing a total of 604 millicuries.
The State reported that inspectors were on site at the licensee's facility and were continuing to evaluate licensee actions to recover the sources.
A State inspector is also working with a team that is conducting surveys of the local landfill, and the waste water treatment plant.
2ne licensee has contracted with a local consulting firm to help find the sources.
The State is requiring the licensee to develop an action plan for the rej:overy of the sources, and the State is also preparing their own press re.. ease.
