MISSING TROXLER GAUGE On November 8, 1996 officials of the State of North Carolina reported a missing Troxler gauge to the NRC Headquarters Operations Center.
The gauge was shipped via Federal Express from Atlanta back to Raleigh, North Carolina on October 23, 1996.
As of this date the gauge has not arrived.
The gauge is a Troxler Model 4232, seriai No. 261, containing 100 microcuries of Californium-252. The gat ge was locked and secured at the time of shipment.
Over the past week, State officials have initiated an investigation of the missing gauge including coordination with both Federal Express and with their counterpart agency in the State of Georgia.
Both the Memphis Federal Express Hub and the Atlanta airport have been searched without finding the gauge.
No media interest has been expressed, and neither the licensee or State plans to issue a press release at this time.
