Subject:

STOLEN PORTABLE GAUGES Florida, an Agreement State, notified the Regional State Agreements Officer, Region II of two gauges that were stolen from a licensee's work trailer during the night of Wednesday, December 15, 1993.

The notification was received by the Region at 3:30 p.m.,

December 16, 1993.

l The devices (portable gauges) were identified as: (1) a Troxler, Model 3411 Series device containing 8 millicuries of cesium-137 and 40 millicuries of americium-241/ beryllium, and (2) a Campbell-Pacific, Model CPN-131 device containing 10 millicuries of cesium-137 and 50 millicuries of americium-241/ beryllium.

The licensee reported that the devices were locked, inside a locked i

transport case, in a locked storage room, inside a locked trailer which i

was inside a fenced area.

Several other equipment items and computers

were also stolen.

The theft was discovered about 7:30 a.m. this morning.

Local police authorities were notified and the incident is under investigation.

A local press release is planned by the West Palm Beach Sheriff's Department.
