The information is as initially received without verification or evaluation, and is basically all that is known by Region II staff (Atlanta, Georgia) on this date.

REGION II RESPONSE TO HURRICANE FRANCES The Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Region II Office, activated its Incident Response Center at 7:00 p.m. (EDT) on September 3, 2004. Region II is in the Monitoring Mode in response to Hurricane Frances as it nears the east coast of Florida. NRC resident inspectors along with augmented staff are currently at the nuclear plant site and are reviewing preparations for the impending severe weather. In addition, RII staff members have been dispatched to the Florida Power and Light Company Emergency Operations Facility in Miami, Florida and the State Emergency Operations Center in Tallahassee, Florida.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency Region IV has also activated its Regional Operations Center to monitor the hurricane.
The state of Florida has been notified.
