PLANT DECOMMISSIONING ANNOUCEMENT - MEDIA ATTENTION 1
On August 1, 1997, Maine Yankee announced that negotiations with PECO have ceased and the plant owners agreed to proceed with decommissioning.
Maine Yankee reported that the decision was made following the inability to reach a mutually agreeable settlement.
Employees were notified that administrative actions to reduce the workforce would proceed in the 1
following weeks and months.
The majority of the contractors were released in May when the board elected to minimize spending pending their 4
final decision.
The licensee has issued a press release.
