FOUND WELL LOGGING SOURCE HOLDER On November 15, 1986, a well logging source holder with identification indicating "AM-241-Be, 3CI, 711951B" was found at Johnson's Keystone Station on U.S. Route 6 in Warren County, Pennsylvania. The Claredon Fire Department responded to the site and surveyed the area. The surveys detected background radiation levels. The source holder was eventually transferred to the Warren County Courthouse. An NRC inspector reponded on November 18, and found that no radioactive material was contained in the holder. A l survey conducted by the inspector in the area in which the holder was found indicated only background radiation levels.
Region I was notified of this occurrence by a telephone call from the Warren County Hazardous Materials Coordinator at 11:45 a.m. on November 17, 1986. The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania has been informed. No media inquires are expected but the Region I PA0 is prepared to respond. Region I will continue follow-up.
