The information is as initially received without verifi-cation or evaluation, and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

FIRE AT CONSTRUCTION SITE At about 9:02 p.m., September 10, 1981, a fire was discovered inside containment at the 90 foot level, adjacent to the containment liner. Assistance was requested from local fire department and the fire was under control at 10:30 p.m.
Apparently, the burning material was stored timber and construction scaffolding. The fire buckled an area of about 100 square feet of the liner plate. The fire is being investigated by the licensee.
No radioactive materials were involved.
Plart Construction is about 40% complete.
The State of Connecticut has been informed. The licensee has issued a press release. A press release is not planned by the NRC.
Initial notification of th'is event was made to the NRC Duty Officer via the Emergency Notification System from Unit 1 at 9:32 p.m. on September 10, 1981.
This PN is issued for information only. The site resident inspector will follow further developments.
