LOST WELL-LOGGING DEVICE CONTAINING CESIUM-137 The Region I office was notified at 2:30 p.m. on October 24, 1980 that a well-logging source containing 1500 mC1, of Cesium-137 was lost at a depth of 3700 feet in Franklin Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania on the afternoon of October 23, 1980. Continued attempts to retrieve the source have been unsuccessful.
The licensee plans to seal and placard the hole if additional recovery attempts fail.
l The Comonwealth of Pennsylvania has been notified.
i The licensee and Region I do not plan to issue a press release at this time.
Media interest is uncertain.
