Webinar Category:
This is a Open meeting. Public participation is actively sought for this meeting to fully engage the public in a discussion of regulatory issues.
Purpose:
The purpose of this meeting is to present the published proposed rule (91 FR 10450) related to streamlining Atomic Safety and Licensing Board adjudicatory hearings on most license applications, including new reactors and reactor license renewals. This rule is part of broader reforms from Executive Order 14300 aimed at increasing U.S. nuclear capacity and to reestablish the United States as the global leader in nuclear energy. EO 14300 directs the NRC to complete licensing actions within 12 to 18 months, or faster. Please note that this public meeting is not an avenue for submitting comments on the proposed rule. The proposed rule includes instructions on how to submit comments.
