Kickoff Public Meeting with Duke Energy on Belews Creek Early Site Permit Pre-Application Date(s) and Time(s): February 21, 2024, 03:00 PM to 04:20 PM ET Location: Teleconference Category: This is an Observation Meeting. This is a meeting in which attendees will have an opportunity to observe the NRC performing its regulatory function or discussing regulatory issues. Attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions of the NRC staff or make comments about the issues discussed following the business portion of the meeting; however, the NRC is not actively soliciting comments towards regulatory decisions at this meeting.

Purpose:

This is virtual public meeting, requested by Duke Energy, to kickoff the pre-application for the proposed Duke Energy Belews Creek Early Site Permit (ESP) for an SMR type reactor plant. At this meeting, Duke plans to present at a high level for information and discussion the following topics:

1) A general description of the site

2) The schedule for submittal and review of the ESP

3) Geology work and site borings in Spring 2024

4) Seismology work and plans

5) Hydrology work and site wells
