This is a Category 3 meeting. Public participation is actively sought for this meeting to fully engage the public in a discussion of regulatory issues.
Purpose:
As part of the OEDO transformation activities, an NRC working group was tasked with developing a framework that will give the staff greater confidence in identifying and accepting well-managed risk for all NRC decisions, both technical and corporate.
The working group has developed the framework Be riskSMART, which includes five steps for identifying and accepting well-managed risk: 1. SPOT what can go wrong or right, what are the consequences, and how likely it is; 2. MANAGE what you can; 3. ACT on a decision; 4. REALIZE the result; and 5. TEACH others what you learned.
The purpose of this meeting is for the NRC working group to present the Be riskSMART framework and obtain feedback from external stakeholders.
